DIY Nail Art: Andy Warhol And NARS Manicure (PHOTO)

Ever received an eyeshadow or blush palette that was just too pretty to sweep with a brush? That's exactly how I felt when I got my hands on the NARS Andy Warhol collection. The bold compacts are a beautiful mashup between Warhol's iconic pop art and Fran?ois Nars genius color schemes.

Glossedbones blogger Faiza bought the Debbie Harry Eye and Cheek Palette for her best friend and was inspired to create this Warhol nail art. The best part about doing this manicure, according to Faiza, was using a fun variation of nail polish colors she already owned. Scroll down for the the nail-by-nail instructions to recreate this super bright DIY nail art.

"Andy Warhol" design: Paint entire thumb nail in Misa I Will Survive and write artist's name on top using Essie Blanc.

Purple lips design: Apply OPI Pink Friday, then draw on the purple pucker in China Glaze Spontaneous and add detail with Essie Blanc.

Debbie Harry design: Polish entire nail in OPI The "It" Color before drawing on the music icon's face. Tip: It's easier to paint an image on your nails using soft, dotted strokes, then connect the dots and create more definitive strokes once you're satisfied. To recreate Harry's skin tone, mix a little of Essie Blanc and Jazz. Finish with a red lip in China Glaze China Rouge.

Purple Andy Warhol "Flowers" design: Start by adding a solid black base using Misa I Will Survive. Next, take a dotting tool or bobby pin to create the flowers with China Glaze Grape Pop. For the sharp, defining strokes use Essie Blanc.

Colorful Andy Warhol "Flowers" design: After allowing the black nail polish background to dry, draw on the bright flowers and recreate the grass with Essie Mojito Madness. A fine tipped nail art brush or toothpick works well.

HTC One SV review

One SV

As Cricket's latest LTE-enabled phone, the HTC One SV brings quality construction in a outstanding mid-range package

It's tough to review a phone that doesn't stand out from the crowd. On the other hand, when the crowd is made up of great phones from HTC like the Droid DNA, One X+ and One S, it's not really a bad thing. That's what you have here with the HTC One SV -- a great little phone that blends in well with the rest of HTC's current offerings.

Here in the states, the One SV is exclusive to Cricket. While that's good news for Cricket customers, it means that this one probably won't get the exposure that it would if it were on a bigger carrier. It's also a chance for HTC to cut corners on the budget phone they built for the budget carrier. Thankfully, they didn't.

After using it for a bit, I'm left with the impression that the One SV is a better built One S -- and that's no easy feat. You can tell that plenty of time and money went into the design, and rather than skimp on features to make a new mid-range device HTC has built it from the ground up to offer a great package with slightly more inexpensive internals. It's a method that works well. See how well after the break.

Kaepernick gives 49ers new look in NFC title game

(AP) ? Colin Kaepernick stood in a cramped corner of the 49ers' locker room smiling and chatting with Alex Smith late Saturday night when a stranger interrupted the two quarterbacks.

"Wow, great game," said former franchise quarterback John Brodie, shaking Kaepernick's hand and patting him on the back. "Nice to meet you."

After a record-setting playoff debut that sent San Francisco to the NFC championship game for the second straight season, Kaepernick needs no more introductions.

The second-year pro out of Nevada squashed all the questions and uncertainty about Jim Harbaugh's late-season decision to supplant Smith as the starter in a 45-31 rout of Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers. Kaepernick is quickly becoming a household name, and his touchdown celebration ? flexing his right arm and kissing his biceps ? is trending all over social media.

Tebowing? No, call it Kaepernicking.

Riding his strong legs and right arm, the 49ers (12-4-1) are back where they were a year ago and seemingly more dangerous and daring than when the eventual champion New York Giants eliminated them last January. San Francisco will play at Atlanta (14-3) on Jan. 20 after the Falcons outlasted Seattle 30-28 on Sunday.

"All the credit goes to him," said rookie running back LaMichael James, another part of the dynamic read-option run game. "When he's making that read, he knows when to give it. He knows when to pull it. He's taking off. He's faster than most people on the defense. He's doing everything for us right now."

In the air and on the ground, Kaepernick confirmed Harbaugh's much-debated move more than anybody could have imagined in 60 minutes of playoff football.

The tattoo-tattered quarterback from nearby Turlock overcame an early interception returned for a touchdown and ran for scores of 20 and 56 yards, topping the rushing mark of 119 yards set by Michael Vick in 2005 when Atlanta beat St. Louis. He also threw TD passes of 12 and 20 yards to go-to target Michael Crabtree, who finished with nine receptions and 119 yards in the NFC divisional matchup.

San Francisco racked up 579 total yards with 323 on the ground, scoring its third-most points in the franchise's storied playoff history. Kaepernick also joined Jay Cutler in 2011 and Otto Graham in both 1954 and 1955 as the only players with two rushing and two passing touchdowns in a playoff game.

"It's been amazing and I couldn't ask for anything more," Kaepernick said.

"Guys playing football. He's making it happen," Crabtree said. "With his feet, with his arm, he's just out there making plays. He's a playmaker."

That's something San Francisco sorely lacked last January.

Throw out the grind-it-out game that propelled the 49ers as far as a 20-17 overtime loss to the Giants a year ago. With a strong arm and quick-burst ability out of the pocket, Kaepernick has given the offense an added dimension ? and maybe some moxie, too ? that was missing in the championship game.

Crabtree's one catch for 3 yards accounted for all of the production from San Francisco wide receivers against New York. While Kyle Williams bore most of the blame for his two fumbled punts, Smith and the offense struggled to move the ball and put the pressure on the defense most of the night.

Maybe no more.

All-Pro linebacker Patrick Willis credited Kaepernick and Co. for bailing out the defense against the Packers, especially in the first half, when Kaepernick had 11 carries for 107 yards rushing to give the 49ers a 24-21 lead. The unproven quarterback simply ran away from Green Bay in the second half, and the reigning MVP couldn't keep up.

"I joke with him all the time, I say, 'You've got to be one of the biggest and strongest quarterbacks I've seen,'" Willis said. "He's fast. It's just one thing when you see a guy get behind a guy and they try to run and the guy already has a step on him. But to see a guy come across the field at an angle and he eats up the angle, to us, that's fast. That guy's moving."

Ramping up plays out of the Pistol formation he ran at Nevada, Kaepernick's size and speed overwhelmed the Packers in ways he hadn't in his first seven starts since taking over.

Offensive coordinator Greg Roman admitted he 49ers had been saving some of those schemes ?and Kaepernick's legs ? for the playoff push. Kaepernick, the first college football player with three seasons of 2,000 yards passing and 1,000 yards rushing, surely surprised the opposition with all those read-option runs, including a 56-yarder TD keeper in the third quarter ? the longest by a quarterback in franchise history ? that eclipsed Vick's mark.

"I think they thought I had it," James said. "That's what I told him. I know once he gets past the second level, nobody's going to touch him."

Kaepernick's performance was hardly perfect.

He threw an interception returned for a touchdown by Sam Shields on the fourth play of the game, had a taunting penalty for throwing the ball down in the face of Packers defenders after getting tackled in the second quarter and often had problems getting the offense out of the huddle quickly.

As San Francisco also knows maybe more than any other playoff team, sustaining success is not easy.

Five previous times this season the 49ers have won two in a row, and all five times they have failed to win the next game, including a 24-24 tie against St. Louis in Week 10. If they want a trip to New Orleans, they'll have to find a way to put together something they haven't all season: a winning streak.

"It feels like we're in the same place," Crabtree said. "Winning that game last year, we're in the same place. It's just what we do the next game. It's all about the next game."

How can I edit photos on an Android tablet without needing to copy them to the device? Moree I am looking for an app running on Android tablets for basic photo touch up such as red-eye, color and contrast adjustments. Nothing fancy there, but I could not find an app allowing to edit a file on a network shared folder. I have a lot of photos and I don?t have enough space on my tablet to store them. I store them on my computer and share the folder. I am also looking for a second app for photo collage using photo on a shared folder. Nuclear Rocket Petition On White House Website

Let's go through the list...

Housing construction: In Europe, current population is either stagnant or shrinking in most countries and the population generally doesn't move around much - it's not entirely uncommon for a family to still be living in the same house their great-great-grandparents moved into during the start of the Industrial Revolution. In America, it's a different story - our population is steadily increasing through a combination of natural birth rates and mild immigration, and our population is arguably one of the most mobile on Earth. Consequently, American housing reflects American needs - it doesn't need to hold up multi-generationally because it won't be in use multi-generationally. It just needs to hold itself together long enough to get the kids into college so the parents can retire into a different, smaller house, preferably one in a warmer climate.

Household appliances: Eh? All the appliances in my apartment are at least a good 15-20 years old and they're holding up okay. Bear in mind here that, if we're going to get serious about energy efficiency, we probably shouldn't be encouraging people to use 50 year old appliances that work "just as well as when they were new".

Cars: You're kidding, right? I've seen European cars. I've owned European cars. There's a reason they're a niche commodity in America - they're expensive and don't hold up nearly as well under American driving conditions as Japanese and (some) American models. Plus, due to the higher concentration of population in Europe, mass transit is used more widely and the road system isn't generally as accommodating as America's - this means that there are a lot of poorer Americans buying cars here that would normally just take a bus or a train in Europe, which means there's a large, paying market of people here that can't afford a C-Class. I'll note that there are several European brands that tried to set up shop here and failed miserably, all with horrific reputations for reliability by the time they were done (anything British, French, and Italian comes to mind, with FIAT doing its best to prove it's learned a thing or two since the last time they were here). Even Volkswagen has a well-deserved reputation for shaky reliability and build quality out here, though I've heard that has as much to do with the price point VW's trying to meet in the US as it does anything else.

Put another way, Americans look at TCO just fine - we're just operating under an entirely different set of parameters than Europeans. Well-built 100-year-old houses are still 100-year-old houses with 100-year-old wiring, 100-year-old plumbing, and 100-year-old room sizes - in our case, we have enough open room and enough money to replace those with newer, better designed houses, and since we know we're just going to replace them again in 25-50 years, we're not going to overbuild them. Similarly, the American definition of a "well built" car is wildly divergent from a European definition - since we practically live in our cars here, we want something that will last 250,000-300,000 miles and/or 10-15 years of constant day-to-day driving first (that's 400,000-500,000 km), we want it to be comfortable to sit in for long periods, and if it can also go around a corner without swaying to-and-fro, so much the better; this, I'll note, is the opposite order of the European definition, which better reflects European needs and conditions. And so on.

Trent University the Victor in Friendly Competition with Fleming College

Trent University and Fleming College announced the winner of their friendly fundraising competition for the United Way of Peterborough and District at a coffee break on Thursday, December 10, 2012.

Paul Ayotte, United Way campaign chair for 2012 and Jim Russell, chief executive officer of the United Way of Peterborough and District, named Trent the winner.

Dr. Steven E. Franklin, president and vice-chancellor of Trent University presented Dr. Tony Tilly, president of Fleming College, with a Trent shirt, which he wore at the event. The presidents congratulated Trent and Fleming employees on another successful United Way fundraising campaign.

The campaign started with a Kick Off BBQ on Friday, September 28, 2012, which raised $800 for the United Way. Aramark generously provided the food for that so all proceeds went directly to the United Way of Peterborough & District.

For the 2012 campaign, Trent University and Fleming College raised a combined total of close to $100,000 for the United Way of Peterborough and District. Trent raised $69,040, surpassing its goal of $67,000.

The friendly competition with Fleming College was based on participation rate of full-time staff and faculty, not the total amount raised. Trent had a 22 per cent participation rate of full-time staff and faculty this year, while Fleming had close to 20 per cent.

Trent University?s United Way campaign is for Trent staff, faculty and retirees. Joanne Sokolowski, manager of Convocation and University Functions, ran the campaign at Trent, assisted by faculty co-chair Dr. Erica Nol, professor of Biology, and staff co-chair Linda Smith, a project manager in Trent?s Physical Resources Department. Thank you and congratulations to everybody in the Trent community who participated in the campaign.
